Well I didn’t really have any intention of blogging. I only set up an account so I could gain access to some work related WordPress group. But then I thought why not. I’ve no idea how long I will do this, but anyway here goes…

OK.  Name: Nigel Pearce. 1 wife. 1 son. 2 step sons. 1 dog. 1 contented life. Been writing software since 1981.  Argh. Where has the time gone?

At the time of writing I work in Research and Development at Promethean Ltd and I’ve been there since year dot!   (well 1996 actually).  If truth be known, I’ve invented and implemented most of the concepts within todays Promethean software offering, being responsible for the innovation, design and development of the fantastic programs Activstudio and Activprimary.   Yes I know I’m blowing my own trumpet, but no one else is going to do this for me, so why not I say!

I’m currently enjoying seeing the launch of ActivInspire, developed by my protégé Mr Edwardson!  He now calls me the grandfather of Activsoftware.  So yes I’m getting on a bit, but so are you Eddy my son!

The sort of stuff I’m playing around with today include the fanstastic dual user capabilities of the latest Promethean whiteboard. This allows 2 people to work together at the same time on the interactive whiteboard.  It basically kicks ass!  So to all you teachers and presenters out there, don’t look at any other product.  I know I’m biased, but check this out…

We really are at the start of an amazing change in the software industry, where multi-input interfaces will take off and I have to say the Promethean technology beats the pants off even the smartest rivals.

However, much as I would like, I am not going to blog about my working life at Promethean because basically I am under NDA (non disclosure agreement) and rightly so.   But then again, maybe I’ll be able to show you some of the cool stuff in future.

So what is my little bit of ongoing ‘dotsam and netsam’ going to be about?

Well right now I’m not sure, but if I can make just one of my posts interesting to just one person ‘out there’  then I’ll feel that my ramblings will have been worth it.
